“Wisdom is the instantaneous recognition that every crisis is accompanied by a blessing.”
Dr John Demartini
I was recently interviewed by eNCA and asked to speak about the mental impact the matric exam rewrites could have on our matriculants.
With my youngest son completing matric this year, I could certainly see how these rewrites could be deeply upsetting and stressful for both matriculants and parents.
Especially now, amidst a global pandemic.
But I also know that there are two sides to every coin.
For every bad, there is a good.
And in every crisis, there is a hidden blessing.
If you are interested in knowing:
- What kind of blessing comes from having to rewrite two of the most challenging matric exams
- How you as a parent can support your child during this stressful period
- How you can advise your child to participate in matric celebrations responsibly
You can watch my interview here.
As parents, we cannot take the difficulty of life away from our children.
As much as we want to.
As much as we would love to see them sail through life smoothly.
Because it is through these challenges, obstacles, and bumps along the road that they grow, adapt, and become resilient.
All we can do is be there for them.
And watch as they begin to flap their wings and find the courage to fly. Knowing that should they fall, we will be right there to help them take to the sky once more.
Drop me an email at Ilze@ilzealberts.com if your child is feeling stressed, anxious, or just overwhelmed by the prospect of having to rewrite these exams.
We can hop on a (free) call and discuss how you and your child can better cope with these challenges, using this crisis as an opportunity to develop a healthier mindset.
From my heart to yours,
Ilze
