The purpose of relationships is to help awaken you to the inherent balance existing within and around you, and to assist you in acknowledging your own magnificence and wholeness.”
– Dr John Demartini
Navigating the dating scene can be challenging.
Perhaps it’s your first time dating in a really long time, and you’re not sure how to approach it.
Perhaps you haven’t had the type of dating success you thought you would.
Or perhaps you’re wondering whether the type of partner you’re looking to share a meaningful relationship with is out there.
So, what is a meaningful relationship?
A meaningful relationship is one where there is an alignment of both partner’s highest values and priorities.
Our highest values dictate the choices we make, the things we do/don’t do, and ultimately, the way we live our lives.
If there is a big divide, with partners unable to communicate in the other’s highest values, partners will pull away from each other.
It is, therefore, important to be very clear about:
- What is of high value and priority to you,
- What exactly you are looking for in your ideal partner.
Know your values
When you know yourself and are clear on what is important to you, you have a higher chance of attracting your ideal partner.
You can get to know yourself better by asking these quality questions:
- What do I spend most of my time on?
- What do I spend most of my money on?
- What do I most love to talk about?
- Where in my life do I have the most order and organization?
Be specific about what you are looking for in your ideal partner
If you are vague and just explore dating sites looking for who is merely available or attractive, your narrow your chances of finding a good match.
Taking the time to think about what you want in your ideal partner is time well spent.
You can use the 7 areas of life to break down what you are looking for in a partner.
Physical: I want my partner to be good-looking, taller than me, in good physical shape, and place a high importance on the way he looks.
Social: I want my partner to have a good social influence and interact well with friends and colleagues.
Familial: I want my partner to have a warm, caring relationship with family members and pets.
Financial: I want my partner to have a healthy relationship with money, a keen interest in investing, and a hunger for financial growth.
Vocational: I want my partner to have a steady career that she loves.
Mental: I want my partner to be intelligent, have a high EQ, and be able to use his mind to solve problems.
Spiritual: I want my partner to practice the same religion as me and have a vision for her future.
