“Your life does not get better by chance; it gets better by change.”
Jim Rohn
You have most probably heard all about change.
How it is the only constant in life.
How it brings about personal growth.
How it is wise not to resist it.
It is all absolutely true!
Often, change may be just the thing we need to get us out of our comfort zones.
Just recently, my husband and I made the decision to sell our home and move into a new home — in another province.
Having lived in the (old) home for 26 years, this was quite a significant change for me!
But my husband and I CHOSE change and all the lessons, growth, and fulfillment I know it is going to bring into our lives.
Now, I’m not saying that self-initiated change is without its challenges. It most certainly is. However, when we choose to initiate change, we are able to handle the associated challenges with a bit more ease.
Years ago, I made a change that altered the trajectory of my life in the most beautiful way.
Before making that change, I was in an unfulfilled place of pain and loss.
A place where I perceived my challenges to be insurmountable.
It was then that my mentors appeared.
Mentors who guided me out of my blind spots and past my limiting beliefs.
And into a place of understanding, meaning, and gratitude.
Because I said yes to stepping up and asking for guidance.
Sometimes, it is difficult to ask for and accept help, guidance, or advice.
There is the mindset that we should “suck it up” and deal with whatever personal challenges we are facing, by ourselves.
Or the mindset that things will just somehow improve on their own.
But things only improve when we take the action steps to improve them.
So, if you:
- Have been comparing yourself to others or versions of yourself you expect to be and find yourself falling short,
- Know in your heart that you are capable of so much more but seem to have fallen into counterproductive habits and patterns,
- Believe it’s time to move past feelings of anger, grief, loss, and resentment that keep you from living your best life,
- Have a vision of what you want your life to look like but don’t know how to make it a reality,
Then perhaps a self-initiated change could be the very thing that sets you on a course toward a more meaningful, inspired life.
What change are you willing to make to live the life you so deserve?
